Curry Arts members step up after 2018 Brew & Art Festival cancellation

Several Curry Arts members stepped forward to donate over $600 after the cancellation of the 2018 Brew & Art Festival. The cancellation, due to the Event Center being occupied by fire-fighting teams working to quell the Agness blaze, resulted in Curry Arts being unable to make its annual contribution to the Gold Beach school arts programs.

In normal years, Curry Arts donates their entire portion of the proceeds to support educational art activities in the Gold Beach schools, usually about $5,000 annually. Curry Arts has donated more than $25,000 to the school arts programs over the past five years.

Because of the large member donations and a match by Curry Arts, a donation of $1,200 has been made to the Gold Beach schools’ arts programs this year.

This donation, while not as large as in normal years, is being used to purchase art supplies and to help prepare student artwork for upcoming shows.

The 2019 Brew & Art Festival will be held on June 22, 2019 from noon to 9 pm at the Curry County Fairgrounds Event Center in Gold Beach. Tickets are on sale at: Interiors, Dan’s Ace Hardware, Gold Beach Books, Wright’s Custom Framing & Art Supplies, and Sassy Seagull.

See the 2019 Brew & Art Festival website goldbeachbrewfest.org for details.

Gold Beach Art Enthusiasts have organized an art meet-up workshop scheduled for January 12th, from 10am to noon, in the large downstairs meeting hall at the Curry Public Library in Gold Beach.

We will be sharing tips to keep you inspired and motivated, demonstrating how to make a “Pocket Palette” so art is always within reach, and discussing the hows and whys of artist journaling. Whether you are an established artist or just an art hobbyist, we welcome you to share your own ideas, tips, and demonstrations of how you make art a habit in your life. If you have art journals or sketchbooks that you would like to show, we would love to see them!

Gold Beach Art Enthusiasts art meet-up workshop: Painting on nontraditional surfaces December 8th

Gold Beach Art Enthusiasts have organized an art meet-up workshop scheduled for December 8th, from 10am to noon, in the large downstairs meeting hall at the Curry Public Library in Gold Beach.

This workshop will feature painting demonstrations using Yupo (a synthetic, waterproof paper), ceramic tiles, and a variety of printed materials. We will learn how to make our own alcohol inks and talk about ways to prep surfaces for paint applications. We love learning from and being inspired by other artists so if you have artwork or a technique to share, we would love to see it! A limited supply of materials will be available to experiment with but feel free to bring your own supplies to work with while you are there. We only ask that you are respectful of the space and bring drop cloths if you need them.

If you have questions, please contact:  Julie Wilson at  jpuzwilson@gmail.com or
Janee Lensing at jllensing@gmail.com

Rene Eisenbart Returns for Follow-up Marbling Workshop

Even a last-minute venue change because of the Agness fire couldn’t deter eight Curry Arts artists from enjoying Rene Eisenbart’s return marbling event.  The rain held off long enough for work to dry and Dianna Brown’s clubhouse was a perfect substitute location for producing all kinds of creative works.  Rene’s fabulous marbling technique was applied to paintings, scarves, and even to a pair of Pat Renner’s Krocs!
