*UPDATE* The Build a Bridge Mural Project is Complete! Happy 130th Birthday Gold Beach

As part of our Create and Celebrate: Happy 130th Birthday to Gold Beach art workshops, 40 Gold Beach artists recently collaborated, remotely due to social distancing restrictions, to create a 20ft long mural depicting the Isaac Lee Patterson bridge.

The artists were each provided with a “piece of the bridge” in the form of a 12×12” canvas onto which a portion of the bridge was outlined.

The artists were given no guidelines as to how they should paint their individual canvas so the resulting artwork is expressive, imaginative, and unique … just like the artists involved!

When assembled, each of the 40 canvases will tell a small story about what makes Gold Beach special while also revealing an eclectic interpretation of Gold Beach’s iconic landmark.

The Build a Bridge mural will be on display in the upstairs gallery of the Gold Beach Library beginning in July 2020.

Curry Art’s member Pat Renner, has been juried into the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies (WFWS) 45th annual exhibition to be held in Boise, Idaho at the Idaho State Museum. The exhibit will run from June 5–July 26, 2020.

The painting entitled, “Awash with Flowers” is one of 100 paintings selected for this year’s “Watercolors Rock the Gem State” WFWS exhibition.  World renowned artist, author and Juror Stephen Quiller chose this painting from among 945 entries from the 10 watercolor societies that make up WFWS.

Having been juried into three exhibitions, Renner will be awarded signature membership at the annual opening.

The WFWS, founded in 1974, is a consortium of ten regional associations of watercolorists from Idaho Oregon, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah and Texas.  Its mission is to showcase works on paper created with a variety of water-based media, to encourage and recognize artistic excellence through competitions and to encourage the visibility of watercolor as an artistic medium through these annual exhibitions.  Members of the regional member societies are members of WFWS, at present numbering over 5,000 artists.
