Curry Arts Workshops Celebrate Gold Beach’s 130th Birthday

As Gold Beach approaches its 130th birthday under that name, Curry Arts has planned four art workshops that will encourage community members to creatively express aspects of Gold Beach’s history, culture, and environment.

Funded in part through a grant from the Curry County Cultural Coalition, other art workshops in this Create and Celebrate Gold Beach series will include printmaking from nature, plein air painting and sketching, and a collaborative mural project.

The workshops will be offered February through May and will be free of charge. Additionally, participants of these workshops will be invited to share their work at an art show at the Curry Public Library in Gold Beach later this summer.  Workshop schedule:

  • February 29th from 12-4pm at the Curry Public Library in Gold Beach. See individual posting on this event.
  • March 21st – Print Making from Nature from 12-4pm at the Curry Public Library in Gold Beach.
  • April 18th – Plein Air Sketching & Painting — Time and location to be announced
  • May 16th – Build a Bridge Together Mural — Time and location to be announced

The first workshop, Storytelling with Mixed Media, will happen on February 29th from 12-4pm at the Curry Public Library in Gold Beach. See individual posting on this event.

Curry Arts expanded their community art outreach program in 2018 when the Gold Beach Art Enthusiasts (GBAE) were formed. In addition to providing free or low cost art workshops throughout the year, the GBAE hold a weekly art meet-up every Friday morning from 10am-12pm at the Gold Beach Community Center.

They welcome people of all ages and artistic levels to gather, get creative, and share ideas about art. More information about the weekly meet-ups can be found on their Facebook page at Gold Beach Art Enthusiasts or on the Curry Arts website at www.curryarts.org.

Space will be limited for the workshops so participants need to contact Julie Wilson at goldbeachart@gmail.com to sign up and to receive more information and supply lists.
