Gold Beach Art Enthusiasts and Curry Arts are proceeding with the Build a Bridge Mural art project as part of the Create and Celebrate: Happy 130th Birthday Gold Beach project.
The Bridge Mural Project is a collaborative community project that will require the input of at least 40 local artists and art enthusiasts. The mural is comprised of individual canvas panels that can be easily distributed so it will be perfect for this “stay at home” time.
Here are the details:
What: The Build a Bridge Project will begin with forty 12×12” canvases which, when arranged, will create a 20×2’ mural. Black outlines of the Isaac Lee Patterson Bridge, water, and land and the words “Gold Beach” will already be painted over all of the canvases as shown below. Participants are invited to use acrylic paint to create any sort of design or composition on their individual canvas while leaving the black outlines visible. Supplies including a 12×12” canvas, 2 paintbrushes, and 5 colors of paint will be provided. Artists may also use their own brushes or paints. All canvases must be returned to become part of the collective piece of art.
When/Where: The project will begin next week and will end by May 31st. Canvases and supplies can be delivered to your home in Gold Beach and will also be available for pick-up at the Gold Beach Library on Thursday, May 7th between 12-1pm. Masks and safe distancing are requested during pick up. Instructions for returning your canvas will be announced later.
Who: Curry Arts and Gold Beach Art Enthusiasts members will have first priority to reserve a canvas on a first come-first served basis and then the project will be open to all other community members. No previous art experience is required.
How: If you are interested in participating in this project contact Julie Wilson at goldbeachart@gmail.com. Include your phone number and let her know if you would like your supplies delivered or if you can pick up supplies on Thursday, May 7th.
Julie will be in touch to confirm your participation. If you have already contacted her directly or on Facebook, you do not need to sign up again.
