MARK YOUR CALENDARS! 2021 Gold Beach Brew & Art Festival – June 26, 2021

Mark your calendars for the 13th Annual Gold Beach Brew and Art Fest — scheduled for Saturday, June 26, 2021!

It was with regret that the 12th Annual Gold Beach Brew and Art Fest was canceled for June 27, 2020. As much as we would have liked to proceed with the event, our first priority needs to be the safety of our community.

Curry County Cultural Coalition awards $400 grant to Curry Arts, Inc.

The Curry County Cultural Coalition (CCCC) has awarded Curry Arts, Inc. a $400 grant for the Curry Arts project:  “Create & Celebrate – Happy 130th Birthday to Gold Beach”.

The grant will be used to fund four art workshops and a culminating art show.

Workshops will integrate the history and natural resources of Gold Beach to help celebrate the town’s 130th anniversary.  The workshops will be open to the community free of charge or for a donation of less than $5.00 per person depending on the materials cost and funding.

A big thank you to the CCCC for awarding Curry Arts this grant AND a big thank you as well to Curry Arts board members Janee Lensing and Julie Wilson for applying and being awarded this grant!

Keep an eye on this space for details.

Grants are made to organizations whose projects most closely fit the goals and guidelines of the Oregon Cultural Trust (OCT) and the CCCC. The purpose of the awards is to increase public participation in Oregon culture.

Oregon Cultural Trust funds are generated through direct donations, the sales of Cultural Heritage license plates, and individual state tax credits. One third of the money that the OCT grants each year is distributed among 45 county and tribal cultural coalitions, based on population. These autonomous coalitions set their own priorities and re-grant OCT funds within their jurisdictions.

Brew & Art Festival donates $6,800 to support arts and music education in Gold Beach schools

The 2019 Brew and Art Festival was wildly successful thanks to the combined efforts of Curry Arts and Soroptimist International of Gold Beach.  The two community groups combined forces as more than 100 volunteers performed, served and displayed original art for beer and art lovers who packed the Event Center on Saturday, June 22.

The Curry Arts board took action to donate $6,800 of their portion of the event proceeds to the Gold Beach arts and music programs.

This raises the total donated to these important local programs to over $30,000 in the past several years.

Curry Arts’ Brew & Art Festival proceeds go directly into the art and music classrooms of Gold Beach and a portion funds scholarships. The instructional donations are made to a “290 Fund” that is managed by the classroom teachers and used to purchase art and music supplies. The donations cannot be used to replace school funding that is diverted for other purposes.

Plans are already underway for the 2020 Brew and Art Festival, scheduled for Saturday June 27.

Mark your calendars for another fantastic event!

More information on the available scholarships can be found here.

Pat Renner juried into two Northwest fall shows

Local artist Pat Renner has had paintings accepted in two Northwest shows this fall.

Her painting “Floating” is one of 51 to be showcased at the annual Northwest Watercolor Society’s (NWWS) membership exhibition, Waterworks Amplified.  The Exhibition runs October 15th to November 22nd at Tsuga Fine Art & Framing in Bothell, Washington.  Soon Young Warren, the juror, encouraged artists to use a variety of media to “create surprising aspects.”  Renner’s work began as an abstract in watercolor, progressed to marbleizing, and finished with lifting and outlining in white pen.

“What’s the Question?” is the title of Pat’s painting accepted into the Fall 2019 Watercolor Exhibition by the Watercolor Society of Oregon in Bend, Oregon.  Only watermedia that can be activated by water is eligible for this show which will be held at the Barber Library on the Central Oregon Community College campus from October 5th to December 7th.

Congratulations Pat!
